QuickBooks Not Working? Go Incognito!

We were in the middle of migrating a customer from another payroll software into QuickBooks Payroll when the frustration really set in. Over and over, we kept seeing the same message:
"Sorry, something went wrong. Give us a minute, and try again."
We had a deadline to hit, so waiting around wasn't really an option. We tried multiple browsers. Nothing worked.
At this point, we were specifically stuck on the screen where you enter a customer's payroll history from their previous system, a critical step for making sure accurate W-2s go out at the end of the year. We could only see fields for regular earnings, overtime, and net pay. We assumed the tax deduction fields would show up on the next screen, but we couldn't get past that error message to find out.
Desperate, we called QuickBooks Support. After answering what felt like every security question ever invented, they finally suggested trying a private browser window, or as most Chrome users know it, Incognito Mode.

We were skeptical, but it worked. The same screen in Incognito showed us everything we had been missing, including all of the tax deduction fields we needed. No next screen required because they were there the whole time.
When switching browsers hadn't helped, using QuickBooks with Incognito Mode honestly never crossed our minds. We're sharing this because if you're sitting on hold with QuickBooks right now waiting on a fix, it might just save you the wait.
And if you're in the middle of a payroll setup or software migration and hitting walls, that's exactly what we're here for. Don't sit on hold when you don't have to.
